Pinto Division (Ages 7-8)
If your child has at least 1-year of T-Ball or Coach Pitch experience at the Recreation Center, this is their next step. Our focus at this level is player development and instruction. Your child will learn the basics of baseball as well as experience a gradual introduction to player-pitch games. Home games are played on D3 at the Romeoville Recreation Center.
Mustang Division (Ages 9-10)
In this division, the base path and mound move back, the game is a bit faster, and rules start to get closer to actual baseball. Our coaches are still focused on player development and equal playing time. The fundamentals of catching and pitching become more essential at this level. Home games are played on D4 at the Romeoville Recreation Center.
Bronco Division (Ages 11-12)
The base path is now 70ft and the mound is also moved back. The game implements MLB rules. Player attitude, coachability, and skill become factors important factors in positions and innings played during games. Home games are played on D5 at the Romeoville Recreation Center.
Pony Division (Ages 13-14)
The base path will be either 80ft or 90ft depending on the division. Mound will be 54ft - 60ft. This age group would play home games at Century Park on Diamond 1.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the time commitment?
Spring Season begins in April and ends in July.
Fall Season begins in September and ends in October.
Players can expect to play 2-3 games per week. Away games are typically played in neighboring communities. This provides exposure to differing levels of play, game situations, and increases our players' confidence when entering unfamiliar situations, both on and off the field.
Are jerseys included?
Jerseys, hats, socks and belts are included and are generously provided through a sponsorship with the Chicago White Sox. Pants will need to be purchased separately.
What kind of equipment does my child need?
Players will want to come prepared with a glove, bat, helmet, and baseball cleats. Batter's gloves and catcher's equipment are recommended after the Pinto Division. You can work with your coach on sizing. Questions? Email president@romeovillepony.com.
When do practices start?
For the Spring Season: All divisions (Ages 7-14) begin off-season workouts near the end of February.
Spring and Fall Seasons: Players can expect to practice 1-3 times per week depending on the division, schedule, and coach's availability.
